Quetta: Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced that a comprehensive traffic management plan will bring significant and transformative improvements to the traffic system in Quetta city.
Chairing the second meeting of the Balochistan Traffic Engineering Bureau Board, the Chief Minister stated that the provincial government has adopted a well-structured and strategic approach to ensure smooth traffic flow and provide better commuting facilities to the public. He emphasized that these initiatives are aimed at improving the overall quality of life of citizens.
During the meeting, officials presented a detailed briefing on the proposed traffic plan for Quetta. Key decisions were approved, including measures related to traffic flow management, road safety, monitoring systems, and installation of modern traffic signals across the city.
The Chief Minister directed that all projects under the first phase be completed by May 2026, while the second phase of the plan should be finalized promptly with a clear implementation strategy. He also instructed that recruitment of necessary manpower be carried out on a contractual basis, ensuring merit and transparency through the use of artificial intelligence-based digital systems.
He further directed the SSP Traffic to ensure effective implementation of the plan and to strengthen monitoring at major intersections to prevent congestion. He noted that the interest shown by internationally reputed consultants reflects growing confidence in the government’s initiatives.
The plan includes the establishment of a modern digital command and control system, along with synchronized traffic signals at key intersections. Additionally, certain roads in the city will be converted into one-way routes to improve traffic flow.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Mir Liaquat Lehri, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Imran Zarkoon, Lal Jan Jaffar, Hayat Kakar, Babar Khan, Shahzeb Khan, Mirza Bilal Hassan, and Dr. Sajjad, along with other concerned authorities.
